Nine Decades of Getting Better

The Birth of Rudy's
Original proprietor Rudy Schwarz opens Rudy’s Market in Downtown Clarkston near the corner of Washington and Main.

Rudy's Market New Ownership
Already retired, Schwarz and his family sell the business in to Robert Esshaki and Chris Thomas, who revamp the more than half-century-old Main Street staple, adding new culinary specialties and pizza, alongside a wider wine selection. Through it all they retain the name—and the charm—of Rudy’s Market.

Rudy's Expands
Expansion into corporate dining across Michigan workplaces. Fresh-prepared, scratch-made programs introduced to campuses at a time when most competitors were still serving from distributor catalogs.

Rudy's Partners with United Wholesale Mortgage
United Wholesale Mortgage partnership begins with 800 employees. Grows alongside UWM to serve 8,000+ daily — a decade of scaling without compromising standards.

Rudy's Becomes Rudy's Prime Steakhouse
Rudy's Prime Steakhouse opens in Clarkston, designed by Victor Saroki & Associates. Named Hour Detroit's 2026 Restaurant of the Year — the same culinary team behind every corporate account.
